Cornerstone Bank will open new Harrison banking center

Eureka Springs-based Cornerstone Bank will open its permanent banking center in Harrison on Monday (April 1). The 9,100-square-foot branch office is at 1426 Highway 65, across from a Walmart Supercenter, and is replacing Cornerstone’s temporary office in Harrison, which opened nearby in early 2017.

The two-story banking center is a full-service location, offering traditional banking services as well as representatives from Cornerstone Home Mortgage and Cornerstone Investment Services, both divisions of Cornerstone Bank.

“After some frustrating weather-related construction delays, we are excited to continue our growth in Boone County from our new home,” Cornerstone CEO Charlie Cross said in a statement. “We are most appreciative of the confidence that has been placed in us by our existing client base, as well as the opportunities afforded us during the time we have spent in our temporary location while under construction.

“It is certainly our pleasure to provide the citizens of Boone County with this state-of-the-art facility to conduct their banking within for years to come. We believe it matters where you bank and our capable staff is looking forward to introducing our brand of true community banking for Boone County’s consideration.”

The expansion should help family-owned Cornerstone stay on a strong growth path. The bank’s assets have grown 49% during the last three years, from $193.1 million on Dec. 31, 2015, to $287.4 million on the same date in 2018.

Cornerstone has four Carroll County locations in Eureka Springs (2), Holiday Island and Berryville. In 2015, it opened a branch in Huntsville in adjacent Madison County, the first office outside Carroll County in the bank’s 107-year history. Cross’ family has owned the bank since 1929 when his great-grandfather, former Third District Congressman Claude A. Fuller, bought a controlling interest in what was then called Bank of Eureka Springs, founded in 1912.
